Show Season Update: Canberra & Warragul Highlights
February kicked off a busy and rewarding show season for us, starting with a trip to the Royal Canberra Show on February 17. We loaded up Tempe, Sassy, Kenzie, and Tosh and made our way to the nation’s capital, ready for a big few days.
This year’s Highland section was one of the strongest we’ve seen in Canberra, with 20 Highlands entered from 8 breeders—the largest lineup we’ve experienced at this show. It made for great competition and an even better atmosphere among exhibitors.

The weather certainly turned it on for us, with scorching conditions meaning plenty of electrolytes all round (for both cattle and handlers!) and a few of us coming home with a solid “show tan.” Despite the heat, it was a fantastic few days filled with laughs, great company, and some very pleasing results.
Our results from Canberra:
🏆 Champion Junior Bull – Tosho of Glenstrae

🏆 Reserve Champion Senior Female – Kenzie of Glenstrae (AI)

🥉 Temperance Angela of Glenstrae (AI)
4th – Sassafras Skye of Glenstrae (AI)
🥇 Breeders Group – Glenstrae
(Team: Tosho, Tempe, and Sassy)

Backing It Up at Warragul
Not long after Canberra, we hit the road again—this time closer to home—for the Warragul Show. We took the same team across, though initially only entered Tosho, Sassy, and Tempe, with Kenzie coming along just for display.
Warragul is a fantastic one-day country show that we genuinely look forward to each year. The hospitality from the committee is always second to none, and it’s a great opportunity to connect with the local community.
As a beef show with interbreed judging, expectations are always measured. Competing against breeds like Angus, Charolais, Limousin, and Hereford can be a challenge for Highlands, so we usually go in just hoping to represent the breed well.
On the morning of judging, we made a last-minute decision to enter both Kenzie and Tosh into the senior classes—and it turned out to be well worth it.
To our surprise and excitement, Kenzie took out Reserve Champion Senior Female as a late entry!

All in all, it was a brilliant day and a great way to follow up Canberra. We’re already looking ahead to 2027 and hoping to see even more Highlands represented.
Looking Ahead
With two shows under our belt, preparations are now well underway for the 2026 AHCS National Show, to be held in Bathurst over the June long weekend.
If you’re in the area, be sure to pop in and say hello—we’d love to see you there.
